Guides
Three edits people ask for most: a full edit from the raw file, a screen tutorial with your camera, a 9:16 short. What to ask, what your agent does, what to check before you export.
For agents: /mcp/guides.md (this page in Markdown), /llms.txt (every page).
A full edit, from the raw file
From a file on your disk to an edit you can export. The agent works for several minutes, longer on a long video, and tells you where it stands as it goes.
Import ~/Videos/interview.mp4 into Brollss and make a publishable edit: cut the hesitations and retakes, open on the strongest sentence, add scenes where they help, captions on the key sentences and calm music under my voice.
What your agent does
- It imports the file and gives you the project link right away. The transcript takes a few minutes.
- It reads the whole transcript before it cuts anything.
- It cuts hesitations, retakes and tangents, and opens on the strongest sentence.
- It counts the moments that need a visual, draws a scene for each and tries every scene on your video before placing it.
- It adds zooms, captions and music, then measures the music against your voice.
- It checks the whole edit, looks at the final picture, and reports what changed, with times.
Before you export
- Watch the first five seconds. That is where people decide to stay.
- Play each scene once. To redo one, give your agent its time: "redo the scene at 1:42, simpler".
- Not happy with a whole pass? Restore the checkpoint saved before the agent's first change, from the Studio.
A screen tutorial with your camera
A screen recording with your face in a corner. Your agent follows the screen tutorial style: zooms on what you click, marks on what you point at, your face kept in view.
Edit my latest Brollss project as a screen tutorial: zoom on the screen each time I click or type something, circle the buttons I point at, keep my camera visible, and cut the waits while things load.
What your agent does
- It looks at your recording to find the screen and your camera window.
- It cuts the waits, the retakes and the moments where nothing happens on screen.
- When you say "here" or "this button", it zooms on that part of the screen or circles it.
- It keeps scenes for ideas the screen does not show, and leaves the screen alone while you show code or a menu.
- It checks that no zoom pushes your face out of its window.
Before you export
- Read the zoomed text at full size. It should be sharp.
- Check that each circle sits on the right button.
A 9:16 short from a long video
A vertical short cut from a longer recording. The format is chosen at import, so ask for 9:16 from the start. The short is a new project: your long edit stays as it is.
Import ~/Videos/episode-12.mp4 into Brollss in 9:16 and make a 45-second short: keep the strongest idea, open on its best sentence, captions on the whole video in a bold style, and a scene where it helps.
What your agent does
- It imports the video in the vertical format.
- It reads everything, picks one idea that stands on its own, and cuts the rest.
- It opens on the sentence that makes people stay.
- It turns captions on for the whole video, since a short is often watched without sound.
- It only uses scene layouts that fit a vertical frame.
- It checks the edit and looks at the final picture.
Before you export
- Check the length against what you asked for.
- Make sure the captions cover neither your face nor a scene.
